20 Care homes participated in Creating Swindon's Biggest Jigsaw. The Jigsaw is 10 feet wide
110 Artists living in Care Homes took part.
The Project
“The Tree of Life.”
This year Arts in Care Homes brought the care community together with a giant jigsaw made up of 96 giant jigsaw pieces. Each home was provided with an art kit that contained thier jigsaw pieces to complete and everything they needed to paint and complete thier artworks.
The tree represents the circle of support that surrounds people living with dementia. The large, colourful circles around the tree symbolise carers, family members, friends, neighbours, and communities who provide care, comfort, and connection. Inside each large circle are smaller circles, representing the individuals who need support. The artwork shows that no one stands alone: each person is held within a network of relationships, compassion, and shared strength. Like the branches of a tree, these connections help people continue to grow, belong, and feel valued throughout their journey.
The black and white tree is the whole jigsaw un-painted. The community came together to see thier artwork as a whole in a grand finale.
